COLD TURKEY [KG026]
Funny how the life works. Sometimes it can take some really shifty events to force you to realise what’s important. I was quite peeved earlier on but I wrote something and then had the urge to mix some tracks. I delved deep into the nether regions of my iTunes to mix some of the most obscure with the new.
It made me remember that whatever goes on in the world of suits, numbers and squares, music and writing will always be my salvation. It keeps me grounded and connected with what I’m trying to achieve in life rather than live within the confines of my constraints, spending a bulk of my time in places doing things I have to do to make ends meet.
My advice to myself is look beyond the box of constraints, become Whoodini and be master of the illusion, play a game of mirrors, let go of all the BS and fall heart first into your words and sounds because no matter what happens that’s all you have.
Did you actually see how happy I was once I finished the first draft of that cathartic piece?
Dancing around the house singing Stardust’s Music Sounds Better With You led me into my old room armed with some dubs and tracks I haven’t mixed before and got a roulette session for the car. I don’t even mind who listens to it, it’s for my ears en route from A-Z in the car and to filter out the BS throughout testing times.
You gotta write more often, you gotta finish what you started, you’ve gotta do this because at this precise moment it’s looking too bleak as if you sense yourself in a rut at a dead end…
We shall prosper and overcome!
