Where Is KO? – Casuals
There seems to be an ongoing theme of creating music which was based upon a voice note recorded whilst driving. Casuals is no different, what began as a drumbeat against the steering wheel and asking my girlfriend to record my ongoing tapping whilst stuck at the traffic light, is now an uptempo grassroots hip hop beat with some synthtastic and intergalactic sounds, a squelchy bassline and steering wheel [freestyled] flows.
There’s no specific story behind the lyrics, it’s pretty much a story of what me and my girl do when we spend time together [eat, drink, cinema, eat somewhere swanky on special occasions] and a failed double date [very awkward]. As it progresses the flow unravels into a cacophonous discourse [sounds great and always wanted to use the words together] of encouraging the listener to try things they otherwise wouldn’t of.
The chorus/hook is pretty much a press record as something came into my head and loop it. I called it Casuals because it was originally saved in the newly created Fuggin’ Around Freestyle folder but I thought it sounded too good to stay on the hard drive, mixed it to what I thought sounded good and uploaded it.
Casuals had its first test drive at the most recent Pull Up and I rapped along after Conrad Kira got everyone to sing me Happy Birthday. So within the first 21 days of this songs existence and upload to Soundcloud it got performed, great feedback in terms of overall production; sound, mix and content.
Lets see what happens with the next upload and whether I can release an EP by mid September that is recorded, mixed, produced by me.
