Grizzly – VIII
In this day and age Grime on one hand seems to be gaining a lot of attention, notoriety and respect but on the other hand, there doesn’t seem to be enough characters and lyrics I can genuinely relate to. Either the music is waaay too Trapish, lacking a particular bounce, or the flows sound too much like someone else’s. Overall I think Grime music has a lack of greazee [the scary guys that you really wouldn’t want to cross that say such outlandish things and have a blatant disregard to your status or notoriety].
Grizzly is animated, witty and outlandish both lyrically stylistically with lines like “I see man puffing up chest like I won’t leave man leaking”. It’s hard not to laugh at his blatant disregard for diplomacy on the track VIII where he raps
Hold up rude boy what’s cracking? … Rainy day I come through clapping / Clap man in his face, invade his space, and ain’t nobody backing.
On a rainy day I will launch an attack, shoot you point blank in the face, conquer your kingdom with no resistance as I have invaded in such a barbaric way that I have scared your most trusted associates into submission.
For me personally this sort of energy, lyricism, and production is what Grime has been missing.
