Name Your Price
What’s the price of happiness, what are you willing to sacrifice in order to be happy, are you willing to make the necessary changes to get there?
What does happiness mean to you?
I know what it means to me, I know what isn’t making me happy and I now know what does make me happy and what I’d like to do more of. The question I wrestled with was the price, the what it’s, the but, the limitations placed upon my happiness until I realised that there’s no price on my time. That’s one of the most precious things. You can waste a huge chunk of your week being anxious, avoiding conversation, counting the down hours and dreaming of a life elsewhere, so much so that you can’t concentrate nor are you focuses on the tasks of your contractual agreements as all you wish to do is be elsewhere. Anywhere but that dreaded place that causes you a lot of pent up angst.
Is it really worth it?
Just depends how you look at it. All of the unhappiness, the portion of your head space dedicated to your escapist fantasies of being elsewhere and the angst of not wanting to engage or communicate with anyone, coupled with your lack of interest isn’t fair to your mental health nor your time. It’s almost as if you value a few pennies over something that is priceless, your happiness and mental wellbeing.
Of course sacrifices have to be made but think about how great it’ll be to be happy and fulfilled again. Imagine yourself doing what you love doing and having the spare time to do all the amazing things that make you happy and fulfil your life. Yes there are some budget adjustments to consider but that will allow you to focus on what’s important. Money isn’t the root to all happiness, I’d lean more towards having the freedom to express yourself and live a balanced life is the key.
What ever fears you have, whatever limitations you’ve placed upon yourself, whatever you envision yourself doing to be happy, make it happen. Don’t stay in a situation you dislike because of financial security or the illusion of it, do whatever it takes to make yourself happy and don’t stop.
You never know, one of the avenues you explore can make your lifelong dreams come to life and pave the way towards a balanced future of stability, personal freedom, balance and fulfilment.
