The Awkward Moment When… Über didn’t know I was from the area
Über drivers have a sinister way of wasting your time and money just for a few extra pennies, what seemed to be one straight forward route down the A202 turned into the driver taking a very stupid detour. I contacted Uber but they didn’t seem at all helpful or remorseful. How can they justify their partners taking such stupid detours especially when it is one road from Victoria to my desired location?
We took a very odd route which is typically straight forward. We aren’t tourists, we are always driving so it weren’t hard to tell that the elaborate route we drove to our destination was unnecessary. No amount of roadworks will justify taking such a decadent trip. Can’t blame the route on the uber map either, doesn’t cut it, I will accept the wrong turn excuse but if you got lost I could of told you how to get to the destination and a quicker way at that. Also didn’t respect the whole ‘schooling passengers on where to call an uber from and accusing them of picking the wrong location’ either. Not sure if drivers taking an elaborate route and driving fairly slowly is a trend because we experienced the same behaviour in Leeds too. Probably should of got a black cab. No hard feelings eh…

We’re constantly working to improve our partners’ knowledge of the city and the best possible routes, and feedback such as yours helps us accomplish that goal. Also, we always want the riders to have a five-star experience on their trips, and your driver’s behavior certainly doesn’t help. Drivers are expected to be polite, courteous, and sensitive to the rider’s needs, and that definitely wasn’t displayed here. There are some brilliant drivers but it seems that 2 in every 5 I’ve encountered are Cowboy Cabbies.
