Fishdoll – Forgettable
It’s easy to lose faith as a music collector because in this day and age you are never guaranteed to find something special. Everything seems to be so formulaic or categorised, nothing seems to disobey the rules within a mediocre slice of sub-culture.
Fishdoll paints a very different picture, one that is filled with lush textures and a lot of ambience. The compositions have so much soul, intwined with operatic and jazz vocal techniques, an approach that is more film score than a pop song. YuYu Feng’s compositions are intricate but feel as though all elements fit together effortlessly. Someone who describes themselves as a beginner is most certainly being modest as they have this innate ability to create compositions for sentiments.
