The Fat Boy EP
Art isn’t just art, there’s always a story to be told and this right here is no different. The Fat Boy EP is a collection of beats I had made at a time I was experimenting with new sounds, acquired a slot of Playback FM and started to put on a bit of extra lbs.
These three tracks started life on an evening where I was out shopping for some new clothes. I began to get frustrated as nothing seemed to fit, I guess you can say that one was having a ‘fat day‘. After leaving the clothes shop I ended up in a Sports Direct to get some gym gear before ending up in what could only be describe as a mahoooosive sweet shop full of stuff that your dentist and dietician would crucify you for eating. I filled up my trolley with all sorts because I was frustrated, I just wanted to eat. Driving home I was listening to the radio and when I got home I got to work -firing up the laptop, connected maschine and my mpk mini.
Binge was the initial track I made before Stuffed in the late evening, whilst Mini Rolls were made in the early hours. The names are literal to what was actually happening, I was really having a Binge on the purest of f*ckry and I was stuffed after going through nearly a whole box of Cadbury’s Mini Rolls.
I upload and post this EP on the cusp of making a vow to turn my health around for the better. Not sure if I’ll do any more work on any these because the whole process has been pretty cathartic (providing psychological relief through the open expression of strong emotions; causing catharsis: crying is a cathartic release).
Over the months these tracks have been in rotation, I’ve sent DJs copies to play -whether or not they didn’t know how to play them is a different story but I gotta say a big shout to man like DJ Flex Daily for spinning Binge (13:58 on the mix below) and and probably being one of the first and only DJs that I’ve heard openly spin the track.
I’m off to the gym…
